 PROFILE ON RUTH

1.When did you start your training with guru holistics?
November 2009.

2. What sparked your interest in guru holistics?
Interesting holistic training courses, location, regular (but not too regular) newsletters.

3. What course did you attend?
Holistic Facial

4. What started your interest in holistic therapies?
Seeking a balanced way to deal with asthma, fatigue, ailments & allergies that I'd suffered in the past.

5. What was the first treatment that you can remember having?
Reiki.

6. How did you feel afterwards?
Relaxed and refreshed, despite being mentally rather sceptical.

7. What is your favourite:
(a) colour
Varies... Currently a spectrum of blues, from turquoise to stone.

(b) crystal
Aventurine for me.
I love the way Rose Quartz can be so instantly attractive and reassuring to people in a state of crisis or despair.

(c) essential oil
Lavender - so versatile.

8. What course would you like to do in 2010?
Crystal therapy - I've always felt drawn to crystals despite being a natural sceptic towards "magic wand" style theories I've read. I think it depends on the teacher as to how practical and holistic you can learn to be with crystal energies.

9. What is your burning ambition?
Currently - to run ChamoFix in the French Alps as a profitable business that helps individuals feel better about themselves and achieve their potential plus helps me pay for my parents to work less and follow their dreams;
Future - to own my own home and possibly teach & massage around the world
.

10. If you were given a gift voucher for any beauty or holistic treatment what would you choose?
Hot Stones therapeutic massage.

11. What is your motto/favourite saying?
Love all, trust few, and always paddle your own canoe! - told to me by an old man picking tomatoes with me in sticks of Australia.

12. If you had to give someone advice on starting a career in holistic therapies, what would you say?
Do it for the love and not the money, but still treat it like a business and value what you can offer. Keep training, practising and learning. And always remember that every treatment is about the client - listen to what they need.

13. Do you do holistic therapies as
(a) your main job,
(b) part time,
(c) work alongside your exisiting job
(d) as a hobby
Now A, my main job, but I do other part time marketing jobs to support this.

14. What family tradition do you try to stick to over Christmas?
Sharing time together, even if it can't be on Christmas day as I work abroad through the winter.

Whoever is together on Christmas itself our family follow the same traditions almos ritualistically at my parents' old house in the country, opening stockings early in the morning (everyone gets one), feeding/mucking out chickens/horses/etc, going to church, visiting friends before lunch, soup and christmas cake for lunch, ride the horses, prepare dinner, do evening farm chores, lay a lovely table with candles & crackers in the dining room (a rare treat), eat dinner (everything home-made & brandy over the xmas pudding with a lucky pound stuck in it) and try and open the presents before midnight. All fuelled by hearty chunks of christmas cake and mulled wine (which sits on the Aga all day) and warmed up by roaring fires and outdoor farm chores, and muddied by wet sheep dogs, welly boots, etc. It's great to watch my nephew and niece partake actively in the whole thing and I'm always sad when I have to miss it.
